IND vs WI 4th T20I Highlights: Shai Hope 102*, Keemo Paul Five-Wicket Haul Power West Indies to 24-Run Win, Level Series 2-2

A breathtaking batting clinic from captain Shai Hope and a decisive five-wicket haul from seamer Keemo Paul guided the West Indies to a thrilling 24-run victory over India in the fourth Twenty20 International at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday night. Confronting a must-win scenario to keep the bilateral tour alive, the Caribbean side unleashed relentless boundary hitting to rack up a massive 247 for 3 in their 20 overs.

Despite spirited half-centuries from Sanju Samson and middle-order resistance from Tilak Varma and Nitish Kumar Reddy, India lost wickets in rapid clusters during the death overs, eventually getting bowled out for 223 in 19.3 overs. The triumph levels the five-match series at 2-2, setting up a winner-takes-all finale in Bengaluru.

DailyCricInfo breaks down the complete verified scorecard statistics, decisive partnerships, and key tactical moments from the high-scoring thriller in Uppal.

Hope's 50-Ball 102 and Rutherford Blitz Lift West Indies to 247 for 3

Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Indian captain Shreyas Iyer found his bowling unit under sustained assault from the opening over.

West Indies openers Shai Hope and Jewel Andrew attacked the new ball without hesitation, constructing a rapid 60-run stand inside the first five overs. Young seamer Prince Yadav broke through in the fifth over, having Andrew caught for 21 off 16 balls. However, Shimron Hetmyer arrived with all-out aggression, smashing four boundaries and two sixes in an electric 12-ball 33 to propel the visitors to 79 for 1 in the powerplay.

Left-arm spinner Axar Patel removed Hetmyer in the ninth over, but Hope took full control of the middle overs.

Displaying supreme timing and power off the back foot, the Caribbean skipper reached his fifty in 28 balls before accelerating into fifth gear. Partnered by Rovman Powell (24 off 17 balls), Hope cleared the ropes across all sectors of the ground. When Arshdeep Singh removed Powell in the 14th over, Sherfane Rutherford joined the party to provide explosive finishing support.

Hope and Rutherford plundered an unbroken 91-run partnership for the fourth wicket in just 40 deliveries. Hope brought up his century in the final over off 49 balls, finishing unbeaten on 102 off 50 deliveries, laced with four boundaries and nine colossal sixes at a strike rate of 204.00. Rutherford provided late fireworks with an unbeaten 49 off 26 balls (four fours, three sixes) as West Indies finished on an intimidating 247 for 3.

Arshdeep (1 for 52), Prince Yadav (1 for 36), and Axar Patel (1 for 45) claimed a wicket each, while Mayank Yadav conceded 52 runs in four wicketless overs on a flat Hyderabad track.

Samson and Tilak Keep India in the Hunt

Chasing 248 at a daunting asking rate of 12.40 runs per over, India went on the offensive right from the outset.

Wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson spearheaded the charge, taking down the Caribbean new-ball attack with aggressive strokeplay. Samson raced to a 20-ball half-century, striking six boundaries and four sixes to carry India to 60 without loss in four overs. However, Romario Shepherd provided the opening breakthrough in the fifth over, inducing an edge from Samson on 56 off 23 balls, caught in the deep by Hetmyer.

Keemo Paul then struck on his first delivery, having Ishan Kishan caught for 6. Shamar Springer followed up by removing Shreyas Iyer (16 off 11 balls), caught behind in the ninth over to leave India 103 for 3.

Left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie tightened the screws in the 12th over with a decisive double-wicket maiden. Motie removed Abhishek Sharma (29 off 24 balls) and had Naman Dhir caught for a golden duck off consecutive deliveries, leaving India at 130 for 5.

Keemo Paul's Five-Wicket Burst Halts Indian Counter-Attack

Tilak Varma and local star Nitish Kumar Reddy revived Indian hopes with a defiant 59-run alliance for the sixth wicket.

Reddy went after Shamar Joseph, clobbering four sixes and a boundary in a rapid 20-ball 41, while Tilak anchored the chase with 43 off 25 deliveries. With 59 runs required from the final 24 balls, India appeared capable of pulling off another record pursuit.

However, Keemo Paul returned to deliver a sensational death-overs spell, dismantling India's lower order.

Paul broke the stand by having Tilak caught in the 17th over. In the 18th over, Paul removed both Reddy and Prince Yadav off successive balls, before returning in the final over to dismiss Axar Patel and Arshdeep Singh. Paul finished with extraordinary match-winning figures of 5 for 41 in four overs, bundling India out for 223 in 19.3 overs to seal a 24-run win for the visitors.

Shai Hope was named Player of the Match for his captain's knock of 102 not out that set up the victory.

With the five-match series squared at 2-2, both teams travel to Bengaluru for the decisive fifth T20I on Saturday, October 17, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
